One who does evil deeds and cheats his brothers and parents of their property has a corrupt mind; he does not prosper, and even the gods do not honour him.

A monk who meditates, whose mind is liberated, having known the rise and fall of the world, of good heart, not dependent on defilements, with that as his reward, may expect the purity of his mind.
