English : Splendid royal chariots wear out, and the body too comes to old age; but the Dhamma of the good does not decay — only the good know this with the good.

อตฺถงฺคตสฺส น ปมาณมตฺถิ / เยน นํ วชฺชุ ตํ ตสฺส นตฺถิ / สพฺเพสุ ธมฺเมสุ สมูหเตสุ / สมูหตา วาทปถาปิ สพฺเพ.
For one who has gone out (attained final Nibbāna) there is no measure; that by which one might speak of him no longer exists for him. When all phenomena (the aggregates and so on) have been removed, all ways of speaking (of what he is) are removed as well.

อาทานตณฺหํ วินเยถ สพฺพํ / อุทฺธํ อโธ ติริยํ วาปิ มชฺเฌ / ยํ ยํ หิ โลกสฺมึ อุปาทิยนฺติ / เตเนว มาโร อนฺเวติ ชนฺตุํ.
One should remove all craving that clings — above, below, across and in the middle; for whatever in the world one clings to, by that very thing Māra follows one.

อุจฺฉินฺท สิเนหมตฺตโน / กุมุทํ สารทิกํว ปาณินา / สนฺติมคฺคเมว พฺรูหย / นิพฺพานํ สุคเตน เทสิตํ.
Cut off your attachment to self, as one plucks an autumn lotus with the hand; cultivate only the path of peace, the Nibbāna taught by the Sugata.

โอวเทยฺยานุสาเสยฺย อสพฺภา จ นิวารเย / สตํ หิ โส ปิโย โหติ อสตํ โหติ อปฺปิโย.
One should admonish, one should instruct, one should restrain from what is unseemly; for such a one is dear to the good, but not dear to the bad.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๒๕.
กาเมสุ พฺรหฺมจริยวา วีตตณฺโห สทา สโต / สงฺขาย นิพฺพุโต ภิกฺขุ ตสฺส โน สนฺติ อิญฺชิตา.
A monk who sees the danger in sensual pleasures, who lives the holy life, free from craving, ever mindful, who has reflected and become quenched — in him there is no wavering.

ขตฺติโย จ อธมฺมฏฺโฐ เวสฺโส จาธมฺมนิสฺสิโต / เต ปริจฺจชฺชุโภ โลเก อุปปชฺชนฺติ ทุคฺคตึ.
A ruler who does not abide by the Dhamma and a commoner who does not rely on the Dhamma — both, on leaving this world, go to a bad destination.
ขุ. ชา. ปญฺจก. ๒๗/๑๗๕.
คตทฺธิโน วิโสกสฺส วิปฺปมุตฺตสฺส สพฺพธิ / สพฺพคนฺถปฺปหีนสฺส ปริฬาโห น วิชฺชติ.
For one who has completed the journey, who is free from sorrow, liberated in every way, who has abandoned all ties — there is no burning torment.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๒๗.
จเช ธนํ องฺควรสฺส เหตุ / องฺคํ จเช ชีวิตํ รกฺขมาโน / องฺคํ ธนํ ชีวิตญฺจาปิ สพฺพํ / จเช นโร ธมฺมมนุสฺสรนฺโต.
One should give up wealth to save a limb, give up a limb to save one's life, and, mindful of the Dhamma, give up limb, wealth and even life — everything.
ขุ. ชา. อสีติ. ๒๘/๑๔๗.
ฉนฺทชาโต อนกฺขาเต มนสา จ ผุฏฺโฐ สิยา / กาเม จ อปฏิพทฺธจิตฺโต อุทฺธํโสโตติ วุจฺจติ.
One who is intent upon and whose mind is filled with the Indescribable (Nibbāna), whose heart is not bound to sensual pleasures — such a one is called ‘one who goes upstream’.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๔๔.
ชิฆจฺฉา ปรมา โรคา สงฺขารา ปรมา ทุกฺขา / เอตํ ญตฺวา ยถาภูตํ นิพฺพานํ ปรมํ สุขํ.
Hunger is the worst disease; conditioned things are the worst suffering. Knowing this as it really is, one attains extinction — the supreme happiness.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๔๒.
เต ฌายิโน สาตติกา นิจฺจํ ทฬฺหปรกฺกมา / ผุสนฺติ ธีรา นิพฺพานํ โยคกฺเขมํ อนุตฺตรํ.
Those wise ones who meditate, persevering, ever firmly striving, touch Nibbāna, the unsurpassed security from bondage.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๑๘.
ทุกฺขเมว หิ สมฺโภติ ทุกฺขํ ติฏฺฐติ เวติ จ / นาญฺญตฺร ทุกฺขา สมฺโภติ นาญฺญตฺร ทุกฺขา นิรุชฺฌติ.
Only suffering arises, suffering persists and passes away; nothing but suffering arises, nothing but suffering ceases.

ธมฺโม ปโถ มหาราช อธมฺโม ปน อุปฺปโถ / อธมฺโม นิรยํ เนติ ธมฺโม ปาเปติ สุคตึ.
Great king! The Dhamma is the path (to be followed); non-Dhamma is the wrong way (not to be followed). Non-Dhamma leads to hell; the Dhamma brings one to heaven.
ขุ. ชา. สฏฺฐิ. ๒๘/๓๙.
นนฺทิสญฺโญชโน โลโก วิตกฺกสฺส วิจารณา / ตณฺหาย วิปฺปหาเนน นิพฺพานํ อิติ วุจฺจติ.
The world is bound by delight and roams about through thought; it is through the abandoning of craving that Nibbāna is spoken of.

ปญฺจกฺขนฺธา ปริญฺญาตา ติฏฺฐนฺติ ฉินฺนมูลกา / ทุกฺขกฺขโย อนุปฺปตฺโต นตฺถิทานิ ปุนพฺภโว.
The five aggregates, fully understood, stand with their root cut off; the destruction of suffering has been reached, and there is now no further becoming.
ขุ. เถรี. ๒๖/๓๓๔.
ปตฺตา เต นิพฺพานํ เย ยุตฺตา ทสพลสฺส ปาวจเน / อปฺโปสฺสุกฺกา ฆเฏนฺติ ชาติมรณปฺปหานาย.
Those who are devoted to the teaching of the One of Ten Powers, who are unconcerned with worldly matters and strive to abandon birth and death — they attain Nibbāna.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๕๐๒.
พหุสฺสุตํ อุปาเสยฺย สุตญฺจ น วินาสเย / ตํ มูลํ พฺรหฺมจริยสฺส ตสฺมา ธมฺมธโร สิยา.
One should sit close to one of great learning and not let learning decay; for learning is the root of the holy life. Therefore one should be a bearer of the Dhamma.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๔๐๖.
มคฺคานฏฺฐงฺคิโก เสฏฺโฐ สจฺจานํ จตุโร ปทา / วิราโค เสฏฺโฐ ธมฺมานํ ทิปทานญฺจ จกฺขุมา.
Of paths, the Eightfold is the best; of truths, the Four Statements; of states, dispassion; and of two-footed beings, the Buddha, the One with Vision.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๕๑.
ยตฺถ นามญฺจ รูปญฺจ อเสสํ อุปรุชฺฌติ / วิญฺญาณสฺส นิโรเธน เอตฺเถตํ อุปรุชฺฌติ.
Where name and form cease without remainder — there this name and form cease, through the cessation of consciousness.
ขุ. สุ. ๒๕/๕๓๑. ขุ. จู. ๓๐/๒๑.
ยมฺหิ สจฺจญฺจ ธมฺโม จ อหึสา สญฺญโม ทโม / เอตทริยา เสวนฺติ เอตํ โลเก อนามตํ.
In whom there are truth, righteousness, non-violence, restraint and self-control — the noble ones associate with such a one; that is the deathless in the world.
ขุ. ชา. ทุก. ๒๗/๕๘.
ยานิ โสตานิ โลกสฺมึ สติ เตสํ นิวารณํ / โสตานํ สํวรํ พฺรูหิ ปญฺญาเยเต ปิถิยฺยเร.
Whatever streams there are in the world, mindfulness is their restraint; I declare mindfulness to be the barrier against the streams; and they are shut off by wisdom.

เย สนฺตจิตฺตา นิปกา สติมนฺโต จ ฌายิโน / สมฺมา ธมฺมํ วิปสฺสนฺติ กาเมสุ อนเปกฺขิโน.
Those who are calm in mind, prudent, mindful and meditative, with no longing for sensual pleasures, see the Dhamma rightly.
ขุ. อิติ. ๒๕/๒๖๐.
โย จ ปปญฺจํ หิตฺวาน นิปฺปปญฺจปเท รโต / อาราธยิ โส นิพฺพานํ โยคกฺเขมํ อนุตฺตรํ.
One who has abandoned mental proliferation, which causes delay, and delights in the state free from proliferation — he attains Nibbāna, the unsurpassed security from bondage.
องฺ. ฉกฺก. ๒๒/๓๒๙.
สกํ หิ ธมฺมํ ปริปุณฺณมาหุ / อญฺญสฺส ธมฺมํ ปน หีนมาหุ / เอวมฺปิ วิคฺคยฺห วิวาทยนฺติ / สกํ สกํ สมฺมติมาหุ สจฺจํ.
Some ascetics and brahmins declare their own doctrine complete but call another's inferior (deficient); thus they quarrel and dispute, for each calls his own convention the truth.
ขุ. สุ. ๒๕/๕๑๑. ขุ. มหา. ๒๙/๓๘๓.
สมฺมปฺปธานสมฺปนฺโน สติปฏฺฐานโคจโร / วิมุตฺติกุสุมสญฺฉนฺโน ปรินิพฺพายิสฺสตฺยนาสโว.
One who is endowed with right exertion, whose range is the foundations of mindfulness, who is covered with the flowers of liberation, free from the taints — he will attain final Nibbāna.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๒๘๒.
สุสุขํ วต นิพฺพานํ สมฺมาสมฺพุทฺธเทสิตํ / อโสกํ วิรชํ เขมํ ยตฺถ ทุกฺขํ นิรุชฺฌติ.
Truly blissful is Nibbāna, taught by the Perfectly Enlightened One — sorrowless, stainless, secure, where suffering ceases.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๓๐๙.
โสรจฺจํ อวิหึสา จ ปาทา นาคสฺส เต ทุเว / สติ จ สมฺปชญฺญญฺจ จรณา นาคสฺส เต ปเร.
Gentleness and non-violence are the elephant’s hind feet; mindfulness and clear comprehension are its fore feet.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๓๖๘.
หีนํ ธมฺมํ น เสเวยฺย ปมาเทน น สํวเส / มิจฺฉาทิฏฺฐึ น เสเวยฺย น สิยา โลกวฑฺฒโน.
One should not pursue base things, should not dwell in negligence, should not embrace wrong views, and should not be a burden on the world.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๓๗.
หีเนน พฺรหฺมจริเยน ขตฺติเย อุปปชฺชติ / มชฺฌิเมน จ เทวตฺตํ อุตฺตเมน วิสุชฺฌติ.
Through an inferior holy life one attains the state of a ruler; through a middling one, the state of a god; through the highest, one is purified.
