อตฺตา หเว ชิตํ เสยฺโย.
 คำอธิบาย
To conquer oneself is indeed best.

อตฺตา หิ กิร ทุทฺทโม.
 คำอธิบาย
Indeed, it is said, the self is hard to tame.

อตฺตา สุทนฺโต ปุริสสฺส โชติ.

A well-tamed self is a person’s light.
