สตฺโถ ปวสโต มิตฺตํ.
A caravan (of carts or pack animals) is the friend of the traveller.

มาตา มิตฺตํ สเก ฆเร.
A mother is the friend in one’s own home.

สหาโย อตฺถชาตสฺส โหติ มิตฺตํ ปุนปฺปุนํ.
A companion is the friend of one whose needs arise again and again.

สพฺพตฺถ ปูชิโต โหติ โย มิตฺตานํ น ทุพฺภติ.
