ปาปวรรค — หมวดบาป ๗ บท
อิธ โสจติ เปจฺจ โสจติ ปาปการี อุภยตฺถ โสจติ / โส โสจติ โส วิหญฺญติ ทิสฺวา กมฺมกิลิฏฺฐมตฺตโน.
The evil-doer grieves here and grieves hereafter — he grieves in both worlds; seeing his own defiled deeds, he grieves and is tormented.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๑๗.
อุทพินฺทุนิปาเตน อุทกุมฺโภปิ ปูรติ / อาปูรติ พาโล ปาปสฺส โถกํ โถกํปิ อาจินํ.
As a water-pot is filled even by drops of water, so the fool, accumulating evil little by little, is filled with evil.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๓๑.
เอกํ ธมฺมํ อตีตสฺส มุสาวาทิสฺส ชนฺตุโน / วิติณฺณปรโลกสฺส นตฺถิ ปาปํ อการิยํ.
For one who speaks falsely, having transgressed the one law of truth and disregarding the next world, there is no evil he would not do.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๓๘.
น หิ ปาปํ กตํ กมฺมํ สชฺชุขีรํว มุจฺจติ / ฑหนฺตํ พาลมนฺเวติ ภสฺมจฺฉนฺโนว ปาวโก.
An evil deed once done does not change, like milk drawn that very day; it follows and burns the fool like fire covered with ashes.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๒๔.
ปาณิมฺหิ เจ วโณ นาสฺส หเรยฺย ปาณินา วิสํ / นาพฺพณํ วิสมนฺเวติ นตฺถิ ปาปํ อกุพฺพโต.
If there is no wound on the hand, one may carry poison in the hand; poison does not affect one who has no wound — so there is no evil for one who does not do it.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๓๑.
โย จ สเมติ ปาปานิ อณุํถูลานิ สพฺพโส / สมิตตฺตา หิ ปาปานํ สมโณติ ปวุจฺจติ.
Whoever stills evils great and small in every way is called a recluse, because he has stilled all evils.
ขุ. ธ. ๒๕/๕๐.
วาณิโชว ภยํ มคฺคํ อปฺปสตฺโถ มหทฺธโน / วิสํ ชีวิตุกาโมว ปาปานิ ปริวชฺชเย.
One should avoid evil as a merchant with few companions and much wealth avoids a dangerous road, and as one who loves life avoids poison.
