Sensual pleasures are burning like a poisonous snake; fools are absorbed in them, and must crowd together in suffering in hell for a long time.

กุหา ถทฺธา ลปา สิงฺคี อุนฺนฬา จาสมาหิตา / น เต ธมฺเม วิรูหนฺติ สมฺมาสมฺพุทฺธเทสิเต.
The deceitful, the arrogant, the babbler, the boastful, the conceited and the unsettled do not grow in the Dhamma taught by the Perfectly Enlightened One.

โกธสฺส วิสมูลสฺส มธุรคฺคสฺส พฺราหฺมณ / วธํ อริยา ปสํสนฺติ ตญฺหิ เฉตฺวา น โสจติ.
Brahmin! The noble ones praise the one who slays anger, whose root is poison and whose tip is honey; for having cut off that anger, one does not sorrow.

The energetic one should not sleep much; he should cultivate wakefulness, and abandon sloth, deceit, merriment, play, sexual intercourse and adornment.

One who sees only the faults of others and is always finding fault — his taints increase; he is far from the destruction of the taints.

When a brahmin has reached the far shore in the two things, then all the fetters of that knowing brahmin come to an end.
