สีลวรรค — หมวดศีล ๖ บท
อุนฺนฬสฺส ปมตฺตสฺส พาหิราสสฺส ภิกฺขุโน / สีลํ สมาธิ ปญฺญา จ ปาริปูรึ น คจฺฉติ.
When a monk is conceited, heedless and has hopes in externals, virtue, concentration and wisdom do not reach fulfilment.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๓๖๐.
เตสํ สมฺปนฺนสีลานํ อปฺปมาทวิหารินํ / สมฺมทญฺญา วิมุตฺตานํ มาโร มคฺคํ น วินฺทติ.
Māra, though he searches, does not find the path of one who is perfect in virtue, dwells in heedfulness and is liberated through right knowledge.

สีลํ พลํ อปฺปฏิมํ สีลํ อาวุธมุตฺตมํ / สีลํ อาภรณํ เสฏฺฐํ สีลํ กวจมพฺภุตํ.
Virtue is a strength without equal; virtue is the supreme weapon; virtue is the noblest ornament; virtue is a wondrous armour.
ขุ. เถร. ๒๖/๓๕๘.
สีลเมว อิธ อคฺคํ ปญฺญวา ปน อุตฺตโม / มนุสฺเสสุ จ เทเวสุ สีลปญฺญาณโต ชยํ.
Virtue alone is foremost in this world, but the wise one is supreme; victory among humans and gods comes through virtue and wisdom.

สีลํ สมฺพลเมวคฺคํ สีลํ ปาเถยฺยมุตฺตมํ / สีลํ เสฏฺโฐ อติวาโห เยน วาติ ทิโส ทิสํ.
Virtue is the best gathering of strength, virtue is the supreme provision for the journey, virtue is the noblest guide; for by virtue (its fragrance) spreads in all directions.

สีลํ เสตุ มเหสกฺโข สีลํ คนฺโธ อนุตฺตโร / สีลํ วิเลปนํ เสฏฺฐํ เยน วาติ ทิโส ทิสํ.
Virtue is the great bridge, virtue is the fragrance surpassed by no other, virtue is the noblest unguent; for by virtue (its fragrance) spreads in all directions.
